Major Core Advantages
Ultra-high security
During charging and discharging, solid-state batteries do not undergo chemical reactions; under extreme conditions such as overcharge, overdischarge, or short circuits, they neither catch fire nor explode, significantly reducing the risk of thermal runaway and ignition. The design of polymer‑based solid-state batteries eliminates issues like electrolyte leakage, evaporation, or combustion, further enhancing overall safety.
High energy density
Material optimization and thinner electrolyte layers enable solid-state batteries to achieve even thinner electrolyte films, further boosting energy density—recently surpassing 800 Wh/kg, far exceeding that of conventional lithium-ion batteries.
Strong ultra-fast charging capability
Solid electrolytes enable faster ion transport, allowing solid-state batteries to reach the required state of charge more quickly during charging, thereby paving the way for fast charging.
Low total acquisition cost
For safety reasons, lithium batteries require more sophisticated charging and monitoring systems, which drives up their cost. Solid-state battery systems, by contrast, need fewer components, and their mechanical mounting and vibration‑damping mechanisms are simpler than those of conventional battery systems. Moreover, lithium batteries are sensitive to extreme temperatures and necessitate heating‑and‑conditioning systems, whereas polymer batteries are not. Consequently, designs incorporating lithium‑battery systems inevitably entail higher upfront costs, while polymer batteries avoid these additional, high‑maintenance expenses.
Wide temperature adaptability
Long cycle life
Under normal operating conditions, polymer batteries have an average lifespan of over 10 years, primarily due to two factors: first, solid-state batteries can function across a broad temperature range from –70°C to 180°C; second, they can reliably endure 8,000 to 12,000 charge–discharge cycles. In contrast, conventional lithium batteries operate within a much narrower temperature range, and harsh environmental conditions combined with continuous cycling can severely degrade their performance, necessitating replacement every two to four years.
